Wireless charging at a desk is convenient in theory and frustrating in practice when the pad is the wrong shape for how you actually set your phone down. A few things worth knowing before you buy one.
Pad vs. stand vs. dock
A flat pad is the simplest option but means your phone lies face-up, screen unreadable, the entire time it charges. A charging stand angles the phone so notifications stay visible. A charging dock usually adds a place for a second item — earbuds, a watch, or simply a stable base with more surface contact.
Case compatibility
Most wireless charging works through cases up to a few millimeters thick, but thick wallet cases or ones with metal plates can block the connection entirely. If charging seems inconsistent, the case is the first thing to check.
Placement matters
Wireless charging is short-range and coil-to-coil — the phone has to sit centered on the pad, not just nearby. A stand with a defined resting position (like a molded charging dock) removes the guesswork versus a flat, borderless pad.
